SBA's April 2026 COVID EIDL servicing update explains current payment-assistance eligibility, delinquency limits, and Treasury referral context.

Update summary

SBA's current page says eligible COVID EIDL borrowers may request a six-month 50% payment reduction, subject to operating-status, delinquency, bankruptcy, and other limits. The page also explains when TOP or Cross-Servicing may become relevant.

What changed in our guides

We updated payment-assistance language to reflect the current 50% six-month description and its stated eligibility limits. We did not describe the program as forgiveness or as available to every borrower.

What borrowers should verify

Check the live SBA page and your Loan Portal before relying on a summary. Account status, delinquency age, operating status, bankruptcy, and prior assistance can change which servicing path applies.
